The victim of a motor vehicle break-in turned the tables on an alleged thief Wednesday outside the Sheetz gas station at 1003 N. Spence Ave., according to a Goldsboro police report.

Goldsboro police were dispatched to Sheetz with a report that someone was holding a man at gunpoint at the rear of the store and forcing him to empty his pockets.

On arrival, police learned it was the victim, Christopher Morel, 21, who had the alleged suspect empty his pockets after Morel caught the man going through his truck, the report said.

Morel had let the man go by the time police arrived, but the officers caught up with the suspect across the street in the parking lot of the Walmart at 1002 N. Spence Ave.

Ronald Philip Young Jr., 38, was found in possession of a cell phone stolen from a second victim, Roberta McLure, 28.

Young is charged with breaking and entering a motor vehicle, possession of stolen goods and larceny. He has been placed in the Wayne County Detention Center under a $4,000 secured bond and is due to appear in Wayne County District Court later today.
