The Goldsboro Police Department says there is no connection between a shooting Sunday and a man being shot two weeks ago in the Courtyard Community at Day Circle.
A man assaulted in the same community Saturday and a woman beaten and robbed in the hours after the shooting Sunday are also unrelated, police said.
No suspects have been identified.
"We still haven't had an opportunity to interview the victim," Maj. Anthony Carmon said.
Larry Maurice Saunders, 21, of Goldsboro, suffered three gunshot wounds to the back and two to the right shoulder, according to the police report.
The shooting took place at 2:30 a.m. Sunday, and Saunders has been sedated at Wayne Memorial Hospital ever since, Carmon said.
No witnesses have come forward.
According to the report, patrol officers found Saunders outside an apartment at 1005 Day Circle -- not far from where the first man, Montay Exum, 29, was found shot July 1 -- after reports of a person shot in the area.
"I do not believe the two shootings are related to each other," Carmon said.
Also not connected, he said, are the reports of a common law robbery and an assault. The robbery took place after the shooting, according to the report.
The report states the victim was found beaten at 4:30 a.m. outside the 1100 building at Day Circle.
Anna Patricia Arias, 23, told police she was outside her apartment when five black men beat her and took her Samsung Galaxy cell phone. Police and Wayne County EMS responded and found Ms. Arias with her face severely swollen and a laceration on her right foot.
Carmon said the assault took place at 4:45 a.m., and by then, police officers investigating the shooting would have already cleared the scene. No other witnesses came forward.
There was blood on the ground next to the stairway in front of the 1100 building, the report said.
Ms. Arias was unable to identify her attackers and said she did not know why they were kicking her.
One day prior, police were called to the same area for a report of an assault.
Toriano Jarrielle Applewhite, 34, told police he was behind the 1200 building at Day Circle at approximately 3 a.m. Saturday morning when an unknown person struck him in the face. Applewhite was unable to tell police who hit him, according to the report.
Without any witnesses or additional information to link any of the crimes, Carmon said there is no reason to suspect any of the incidents are related to one another.
Carmon instead attributed the rise in activity at Courtyard to the change in weather.
"It has been a little bit nicer; it has been cooler in the evenings," he said.
