A bouncer and a patron are both expected to recover after being shot multiple times outside a local strip club early this morning, the Goldsboro Police Department said.
Investigators said it looks like neither of the victims was the shooter's intended target.
The incident took place at 1:50 a.m. outside Sid's Showgirls at 1931 N. William St.
Walker Alexander Sutton, 39, a Sid's employee, and Kelvin Lanier Lance, 24, a customer, each suffered multiple gun shot wounds after an unidentified person began shooting.
Lance made his own way to Wayne Memorial Hospital, according to a police report. Sutton was transported by Wayne County EMS. Both men are expected to recover.
"They are non-life- threatening injuries," Maj. Anthony Carmon said.
Sutton and Lance might be limited in how much information they can provide that might help solve the case, Carmon added, saying that it is believed neither man was the intended target of the shooting.
Carmon said the shooter or shooters have yet to be identified. A shooting that took place late Wednesday in the 500 block of West Holly Street might or might not be related.
At 10:40 p.m., unknown suspects opened fire as Damon Alonzo Stokes, 52, was driving through the area of West Holly Street and Georgia Avenue. One of the bullets struck Stokes' vehicle.
According to the police report, Stokes fled the area and was stopped at the intersection of North John Street and East Holly Street where he reported the shooting.
"We are not sure if these are related," Maj. Carmon said. "We still have to do some detailed investigating," he said.
Anyone with information regarding either shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 919-735-2255, or text tips o 919 222-4230. Callers can remain anonymous and information leading to a felony arrest is eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
