Officer Andrew Nail of the Goldsboro Police Department places an evidence marker over a spent shell casing at the scene of a double shooting outside an apartment at 1100 Day Circle late Wednesday night. A woman was grazed and another victim was struck multiple times by gunfire and is listed in stable condition today.

A man shot multiple times late Wednesday night after a fight in the Day Circle housing community is recovering at Wayne Memorial Hospital today.

A woman grazed by gunfire was also treated at the scene.

Montay Lashay Exum, 29, of Newsome Street, told police he was punched in the face while in front of the 1200 building of Day Circle, according to a Goldsboro police report. Exum began fighting with the man who punched him when he heard several gunshots.

Exum was struck multiple times by gunfire and fell in front of the 1100 building of Day Circle.

"The victim, Mr. Exum, is in stable condition," Sgt. Jeremy Sutton said.

Destiny Brown, 18, of Day Circle, was grazed by a round.

"Ms. Brown was grazed and treated at the scene," Sutton said.

According to the report, Ms. Brown was then taken in a personal vehicle to Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Pockets of onlookers gathered throughout the neighborhood as patrol officers taped off the area in front of the adjacent 1200 and 1100 buildings.

Investigators placed evidence markers over spent shells -- as many as nine --and other items of interest.

No suspect information was listed on the report and the Goldsboro Police Department has released no further details.

"The investigation is ongoing," Sutton said.
