The Goldsboro City Council will kick off July with a relatively light agenda, with only 10 items to discuss on the consent agenda and work session agenda combined.

During the work session, the council will discuss what artwork to select for the traffic circles being constructed as part of Streetscape.

The council will also discuss the ongoing F-86 restoration taking place on Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, as well as analyzing a list of roads being nominated for street resurfacing projects during the 2015-16 fiscal year.

If the consent agenda passes at Monday night's meeting, the council will approve the construction of a solar farm on the North side of Belfast Road between Salem Church Road and Interstate 795.

The Goldsboro Police Department is expected to apply for the 2015 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant, if the council approves the consent agenda item allowing it to do so. The city also applied for the same grant in 2014, but was denied.

The total amount of the grant is $39,927, and would be split evenly between the Police Department and the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.

If grant funds are received by the Police Department, they would purchase a 2015 Dodge Charger police cruiser at a cost of $12,375, and EZ Child ID system at a cost of $5,088 and a McGruff the Crime Dog costume at a cost of $2,395.42.

The Sheriff's Office has proposed purchasing tactical robots and all related equipment for the robots at a cost of $18,860.47.

Also on the consent agenda is an item approving a road closure for a USA Cycling Criterium race on July 18. If approved by the council, portions of the following roads would be closed for six or more hours: East Mulberry Street, Ormond Avenue, East Walnut Street, North John Street, North William Street and North Daisy Street.

The next item on the consent agenda is an item calling for a motion to approve Bob Waller's appointment to the Goldsboro-Wayne Transportation Authority's board. Don Chatman's term is expected to expire in July, and if the consent agenda is approved, Waller would replace him.
