The Goldsboro Police Department is investigating a series of fraudulent charges to a credit card number stolen from the Daniels and Daniels Construction Co.
The amount of charges uncovered so far exceeds $29,708.
Maj. Anthony Carmon said the card was used in several cities across the state -- some as far away as Charlotte -- and other charges might still not have been discovered. An investigator has been assigned to the case.
"The investigator is going to have to figure out where the card was used. But as he digs into it, he is going to have to track down each individual transaction," Carmon said.
According to the police report, the false charges began June 10 and were discovered June 17.
Carmon said it is possible additional charges were made against the account that have not yet been uncovered, but it is going to take some time to sift through all the financials.
"It is kind of like somebody comes in and hands you a stack of bank statements," he said. "But as of right now that seems to be the complete amount."
