A Goldsboro man's lack of cooperation with law enforcement's investigation of two shootings Wednesday afternoon, of which he was the intended target both times, has left Goldsboro police little to go on.

With sparse help from witnesses, investigators are working today to answer the question on their own: Who wants to kill Michael Seaberry?

"That is the $50,000 question around here today," Maj. Anthony Carmon said.

"He is not cooperating with us at all," he added.

Seaberry, 22, of Goldsboro, survived two attempts on his life after being shot at twice in a matter of minutes Wednesday afternoon.

Back-to-back shootings took place at 4:34 and 4:38 p.m., the first in a busy strip mall and the second at a nearby residence.

According to the police report, Seaberry sat in the driver seat of a parked Dodge Neon in the parking lot of the strip mall anchored by Carlie C's IGA at 1803 Wayne Memorial Drive. A white Nissan Altima with dark-tinted windows approached and opened fire.

Seaberry fled, as did the shooters, but the owner of a nail salon in the strip mall filed a report with police and turned over security camera footage from her business.

Four minutes later, at 1701 C N. George St., residents inside the home heard a series of gun shots. At least two bullets struck the side of the home.

"No one else was injured an no other property damage was reported," Carmon said.

According to the report, witnesses again saw the suspect vehicle, a white Nissan Altima, and this time were able to count four black males occupying the vehicle.

But also inside the residence was Seaberry, who again refused to cooperate with police.

Carmon said this is not the first time Seaberry has been involved one way or another -- and possibly the intended victim -- of reports of shots fired. But he has escaped unscathed each time, including Wednesday.

"And twice in one day," Carmon said in disbelief.
