The identity of the man killed in Wednesday's crash on N.C. Highway 581 near Talton Hardy Road has been released by the N.C. State Highway Patrol.
Joey Randolph, 51, of Kenly died when his 2000 Ford Ranger went off the road.
"The vehicle crossed the center line, traveled off onto the shoulder of N.C. 581 and struck a driveway culvert. The vehicle then overturned and struck several trees," Sgt. Michael Baker said.
Randolph died as a result of his injuries.
Baker said contributing factors leading up to the fatal wreck included driving too fast for the conditions of the roadway -- it had been raining -- and driving left of center.
No other vehicles were involved in the wreck, and no one else was injured.
