After a failed attempt to rob one Internet sweepstakes establishment, three armed black males struck another gaming business successfully, injuring one employee in the process.

The men first attempted to enter the Longhorn's Business Center -- formerly Teasers strip club -- at 1716 U.S. Highway 117 S., at 11:15 p.m. The would-be robbers made it past the first set of security doors and pulled handguns from their pockets, according to the Goldsboro police report.

By the time they made it to the second set of security doors, the locks had engaged and the men could not force their way into the business.

"Longhorn's has double security doors," Maj. Anthony Carmon said. "They were able to breach the first set of security doors but not the second."

Less than one hour later, the three suspects struck Hi-5's Internet Sweepstakes at 565 E. New Hope Road.

According to the report, one of the men entered the store and asked what was required to play the games. As he exited, two other men entered and robbed the business as well as the patrons. After taking $520 from the cash register and cell phones, wallets and a pack of Misty 100s from the customers, the suspects fired one shot into the floor. A ricochet fragment struck Hi-5's employee Donald Chad Broadway, 38, in the shin. Broadway later refused medical treatment.

The suspects were able to get away before police arrived. No description of the suspects or their vehicle is listed on the police report.

"All of the victims second incident are witnesses. We are still trying to determine if we can get a hold of the surveillance video as well," Carmon said.
