Dream Factory to sponsor 5K run

GREENVILLE -- The Dream Factory, the second-largest children's wish granting organization in the country, will hold a "Backwoods Beast" 5-kilometer run May 9 to help raise money to make a sick child's wish come true.
Since 1980, the Dream Factory has granted more than 25,000 dreams to children suffering from debilitating diseases across eastern North Carolina.
The event is more of an obstacle course than a mere run. Participants will run, walk, climb, crawl through challenging obstacles such as walls, tunnels, balance beams, and more before they cross the finish line.
All of the proceeds from the event will go to granting wishes, organizers said.
The event will be held, starting at 9 a.m., at the Bicycle Post Trails on Shortbridge Road in Greenville. Cost is $50.
