A man has been arrested in connection with a telephone threat that closed the campus of Wayne Community College Friday for the second time in a week.

Kentrell Lamont Chadwick, 31, of 909 Prince Ave., has been charged with making a false report concerning mass violence on educational property. The crime is a Class H felony, meaning Chadwick could potentially face substantial jail time and a fine if convicted. He is currently being held in the Wayne County Detention Center under a $100,000 secured bond.

According to the Goldsboro police report, the call came in to the college switchboard and was transferred to campus security at the caller's request.

"I'm fixin' to shoot in the school right now," the caller said. The caller was later identified by investigators as Chadwick.

The threat -- which forced administrators to close the campus early Friday and suspend all activities planned throughout the weekend -- came on the heals of a fatal shooting on school grounds Monday.

Print shop supervisor Ron Lane, an 18-year college employee, was shot and killed in the print shop's work study room by former student/employee Kenneth M. Stancil III, 20.

Stancil, charged with felony first-degree murder, is also being held in the Wayne County Detention Center. He is being held without bond.

A Goldsboro Police Department press release issued late Friday said Chadwick placed the call at approximately 8:31 a.m.

What was first reported as a bomb threat was in fact a false threat of gun violence involving the use of a firearm on campus, the release said.

Police said there was no connection between the murder that took place on campus Monday and the threat made Friday morning. Nor have any additional threats against the campus been made since.
