Teenager reports gunshots in city park

An Eastern Wayne High School student reported shots fired at Berkeley Park to the Goldsboro Police Department Thursday, stating the vehicle he was driving was damaged by bullets.
According to the report, Jaylne Whitfield, 17, of Randall Lane, told police was at the park which sits at 3211 Cashwell Drive behind a cluster of apartments, and people there were arguing.
He said the incident occurred at approximately 6:30 to 7 p.m. when he heard gun shots.
Whitfield said he was playing basketball at the time of the shooting, and there were several people at the park.
He did not know why the people were arguing or which direction the shots came from, the report said.
The front windshield, driver side window, passenger door and right front door molding of the 2011 Honda Accord he was driving were all damaged. The estimated damage to the vehicle is listed on the report at $700.
