Two arrested in home invasion, shooting in city

A second man has been charged in the home invasion and shooting that took place late Sunday evening at 103 W. Lockhaven Drive.

Khiry Reid was shot in the leg after two men forced their way into his residence looking for drugs, according to a Goldsboro press release.

The incident took place at 10:30 p.m.

Derelle Le'Merritt Sutton, 22, 202 Alpha Court, was identified early on in the investigation and arrested at his home just hours after the shooting.

Devaunte Levi Hardnett, 20, 205 Alpha Court, was arrested and charged at 10:20 a.m. Monday.

Sutton and Hardnett are each charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, robbery with a dangerous weapon and two counts of first-degree kidnapping.

Sutton is being held in the Wayne County Jail under a $500,500 secured bond. Hardnett is jailed under a $500,000 secured bond.

According to the report, the two men forced their way into Reid's home and held he and his girlfriend at gunpoint while the residence was searched for drugs. Just before leaving, one of the men shot Reid in the leg.
