Another two cars have been broken into in the 100 block of Fallin Boulevard, the Legacy at Berkeley Place apartments, according to reports taken Tuesday by the Goldsboro Police Department.

A total of seven motor vehicle break-ins have been reported in that community since Monday, with two of the cars belonging to one victim.

The police department said it is stepping up patrols in that area.

"Officers have been instructed to conduct area checks as call volume dictates and we would ask our citizens to not leave any valuables in plain sight, to include but not limited to wallets, cell phones, GPS devices and purses," Capt. Dwayne Dean said.

Community manager at Legacy, Toni Lanni, said she was notified of the break-ins today after returning from out of town.

"We do notify our residents that they should be aware of their surroundings wherever they are, be it at home or away from home," Mrs. Lanni said.

Legacy has security cameras around the clubhouse only and not in the parking areas.

And while the apartment complex cares about its residents and wants what is best for them, residents are responsible for their own belongings, she said.

"We do work with the police, and we have asked for them to patrol more often," she added.

In each of the break-ins, the suspects have broken out either the passenger side or driver's side windows of the vehicle. Electronics such as iPods and GPS devices have been stolen, as have wallets and identification cards.

Dean asked that anyone who sees a suspicious person in their neighborhood call and report it to give officers an opportunity to investigate.

If a break-in is found after it occurred, citizens can call the police non-emergency line at 919-705-6572.

"(Call) 911 if it is in progress," he said.

"Also, if you hear breaking glass, please call and report that so an officer can investigate," he said.
