City woman dies in three-car crash on I-40

A Goldsboro woman is dead following a three-car wreck on Interstate 40 in Burke County Friday afternoon.
Nancy Jergensen, 65, 214 Creekside Drive, was killed when the car she was riding in was struck from behind near mile marker 100 on I-40, First Sgt. Brian Joines said.
The wreck took place at 12:55 p.m.
Joines said that traffic was slowing due to a separate wreck about a mile farther up the road when the accident that killed Mrs. Jergensen happened.
Her husband, Ronnie Jergensen, was driving.
"She was the passenger in the car, her husband was the driver. They were involved in a three-car collision," Joines said. "They were struck from behind."
Three others were sent to the hospital but with non-life-threatening injuries, Joines said.
The wreck is still being investigated. Charges have not yet been filed.
