A new idol

Chelsea Olsen reacts after being named the first "WCC Idol" at Wayne Community College on Thursday night. Ten finalists competed for the title, with 38,850 votes cast to determine the winner. Miss Olsen, who sang the Toto song "Hold the Line" for the final round of competition, is a WCC student completing an associate in science degree with plans to transfer to UNC in the fall and pursue a career teaching mathematics. She is a member of the WCC chorus and the Fine Arts Club, which hosted the event along with the Student Government Association.
