Employee steals $25,000 in cell phones

A U.S. Cellular employee working in both Goldsboro and Wilson confessed to stealing more than $25,000 in smart phones from the business, a Goldsboro police report said.
Craig Scott Capps, 33,131 Adler Lane, is charged with larceny by employee and is currently being held in the Wayne County Jail under a $10,000 secured bond.
U.S. Cellular officials told investigators Capps stole 19 Apple i-Phone 6 models, 12 Apple i-Phone 5s (16 GB), 6 Apple i-Phone 6 Plus, 2 Apple i-Phone 5s (32 GB) and an Apple i-Phone 5 (64 GB), totaling $25,460 in value.
The thefts occurred over a period of roughly two months, beginning Feb. 2 and ending on or about March 25 when they were reported to police.
According to the police report the thefts were caught on camera and Capps made a full confession to police.
Capps is scheduled for a first appearance today in Wayne County District Court.
