MOUNT OLIVE -- Dr. Tammy Howard, director of accountability services at the Department of Public Instruction, will speak at the University of Mount Olive's annual Braswell Lecture.
The lecture will be Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the Southern Bank Auditorium in the Raper Building.
Ms. Howard's experience includes managing and developing projects in test development, testing policy, testing logistics, and operations in North Carolina and as the director of operations for state projects for the American Institutes for Research.
Her education experience includes four years as a middle school English language arts and social studies teacher.
The annual Braswell Lecture was established in 1998 to honor Jessie Dail and Walter Vernon Braswell, who established a scholarship endowment memorializing Mrs. Braswell's 34-year teaching career in the Princeton, North Carolina, the public school system, and the Braswell family's life-long commitment to education.
The Jessie Dail and Walter Vernon Braswell Endowment funds the Braswell Scholars, the largest scholarship program at the university.
