MOUNT OLIVE -- The 22nd annual University of Mount Olive Martin Lecture, which had to be rescheduled because of the February snow and ice storm, has been rescheduled for Wednesday, April 8.

Dr. Santanu Bose will be the guest speaker.

The event will start at 6:30 p.m. at the Southern Bank Auditorium in the Raper building on the university campus.

Bose is an associate professor at the College of Veterinary Medicine at Washington State University and a graduate of the University of Mount Olive.

Following his BS degree from UMO, he earned his Ph.D. in biochemistry from the Medical College of Wisconsin. He is the co-inventor of an oncolytic therapy using respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) to selectively target cancer cells.

The Lorelle F. Martin Lecture was established in 1993 by Dr. E. Lee Glover as an annual tribute to his former professor Mrs. Lorelle F. Martin. Martin served for 30 years as chair of the Department of Science and Mathematics at the University of Mount Olive before retiring in 1987.

The event is being presented by the UMO Department of Biological and Physical Sciences. For more information about the lecture, contact Dr. Jason Pajski at jpajski@umo.edu.
