A man walked into the Walmart at 2908 U.S. Highway 70 W., Saturday and robbed the service counter by handing the clerk a note, according to a Goldsboro police report.
The robbery took place at 12 p.m. and was over within two minutes.
Brenda Thompson, working the counter at the time of the robbery, told police a black man approached her wanting to cash a check. Instead the man handed her a note which read in part, "I will kill you if you do not give me your money."
Ms. Thompson could not recall what the rest of the note said, according to the report.
The suspect then pretended to buy a bag of chips, the report said.
When Ms. Thompson opened the register, he ordered her to fill the bag with money, which she did.
The suspect then fled on foot.
The total amount of money taken is listed on the report at $1,187 in cash.
The suspect is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing about 160 pounds and of a medium build. He might have a mole on the lower right side of his face.
The Goldsboro Police Department did not return emails requesting comment by press time, and no photos from security cameras inside the store have been released.
