Man assaulted in local store's parking lot

A Dudley man robbed as he was coming out of the Walmart at 1002 N. Spence Ave. early Monday said his assailant spoke to him in Spanish.
The incident took place at 1:20 a.m.
Ramon Mata, 38, told Goldsboro police he was approached from behind while putting groceries in his car. According to the police report, the suspect placed an object in Mata's back and demanded money.
Mata handed over a wallet containing $500 in cash and a black iPhone 5 valued at $600.
The subject is described as a 5-foot-tall Hispanic male with long black hair.
According to the police report, the suspect wore a white shirt and fled the area in a white Dodge Neon heading in an unknown direction.
The investigation is ongoing.
