A Goldsboro woman escaped injury when a masked gunman forced his way into her home and robbed her Tuesday evening.

The burglary took place at 6 p.m.

According to the police report, Ethel Lee, 70, 1502 Day Circle, answered a knock at her door at her residence to find a man wearing a black toboggan and a scarf over his face standing in front of her holding a rifle.

The gunman forced his way in and robbed Mrs. Lee, taking her wallet, driver's license and $110 in cash.

Acting Major of Investigations Dwayne Dean said Mrs. Lee was not injured.

"Our investigators are following up on that this morning," Dean said.

The suspect fled south on foot and was not captured.

He also wore a gray coat and blue jeans.

Dean asked that anyone with information regarding this incident contact Crime Stoppers at 919-735-2255, or text tips to 919-222-4230. Callers can remain anonymous and tips leading to a felony arrest are eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
