The Goldsboro Police Department solved two cases dating back to September, according to a press release.
One case involves a car stolen from a dealership and the other revolves around a series of gift cards sold to pawn shops that were later zeroed out by the seller.
A 2003 Honda Odyssey was reported stolen Sept. 11 from Car City Imports at 218 E. Mulberry St.
According to the police report, a man using the name Jamel Mahammad El-Amin presented a N.C. driver's license and was allowed to take the vehicle for a test drive. He never returned with the vehicle.
GPD investigators later identified El-Amin as Kelvin Wayne Bass, 46 -- who they say has been known to use the alias El-Amin with various spellings of the names Jamel and Muhammed. He has also used the names Melvin Duane Bass and Kevin Bass.
Bass was located and arrested in Roanoke Rapids Nov. 28 by local police.
The stolen vehicle was also recovered and Bass was placed in the Halifax County Detention Center and held under a $6,000 secured bond.
In the gift card case, a suspect was developed after a Goldsboro pawn shop reported purchasing gift cards that had value at the time they were purchased, but were found to have been emptied days later.
Jeffery David Jones, 35, of 3400 Catherine St., is charged with nine counts of conspiracy to obtain property by false pretense across three counties, including Pitt, New Hanover and Wayne.
Jones allegedly sold the cards to pawn shops while the cards had money loaded on them, then redeemed the money electronically after the cards had been sold.
