Fremont's Small Town Economic Prosperity committee has secured a company to perform a marketing and branding analysis for the town.
After more than three months of price negotiations on the matter, Fremont's STEP committee was able to secure an affordable deal with West Depot Creative from Elkin for $5,420. This price is nearly $3,000 less than what was budgeted for the marketing and branding analysis.
A marketing and branding study consists of an outside company coming into Fremont, speaking with residents of the town and gaining a sense of what Fremont's residents want.
Then, West Depot Creative will implement that knowledge into recreating the town's logo and overall image to bring it into the modern era.
The town's calling card -- the daffodil -- will not be removed from the town logo, no matter the outcome of the marketing and branding study.
"For millennials, baby boomers, 'gen x'ers' -- we're trying to make it appealing for everyone across the board," said STEP chairman Keith Spivey.
Fremont's STEP committee was initially attempting to work with Arnette Muldrow marketing company for the project, but found the company was asking for more than was budgeted to perform the project.
As part of STEP operations, the committee is also looking at updating various parks in the community.
After meeting with town residents earlier this month, citizens recommended creating an open play field for the park to be updated, providing horseshoes, creating a disc golf hole for children, brightening the ball field's lighting, putting cushioning, such as mulch, under the swings, building a small picnic shelter and installing new swings for the chosen park.
Prices for the park project are being analyzed and will be presented at a future meeting.
