Choral students from Wayne County Public Schools will participate in the 14th annual holiday showcase this week.

The districtwide event will span three nights, being held Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 2, 3 and 4, in the auditorium at Goldsboro High School.

The showcase, which began in 2001 with 12 schools participating, has grown to include students from 29 schools.

"The Choral Showcase is a special holiday event that our schools and community look forward to each year," Kim Copeland, performing arts director, said. "Several weeks of preparation have gone into this event, and our music directors are excited to showcase the voices and musical talents of their students and provide audience members three fun-filled evenings of seasonal cheer."

Students are divided into groups and have been rehearsing in the weeks leading up to their performance.

Schedule of schools participating in each evening's event appear below.

On Tuesday, schools include Goldsboro High, Dillard Middle, Carver Heights Elementary, North Drive Elementary, School Street Elementary, Edgewood Community Developmental School, Southern Wayne High, Mount Olive Middle, Brogden Middle, Grantham School, Brogden Primary and Carver Elementary.

Middle and high students' parents may use the Herman Street parking lots. Community members and other visitors are welcome to use any of the Goldsboro High parking lots.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the programs will begin at 7 p.m. each night.

Admission is $5, with all proceeds to benefit the choral programs at the participating schools. Children under 5 years old are admitted free.
