A group of veterans joined city, county and state leaders at the Wayne County Public Library Monday to celebrate the Marine Corps' birthday. The event, hosted by retired Marine and N.C. Military Order of the Purple Heart chaplain emeritus Bill Carr, was a tribute to Cliff Yates, a Marine Carr served with, and a chance for Carr to recognize several local officials for their commitment to veterans causes.
