Meg Gernaat, promotions coordinator for Downtown Goldsboro Development Corp., will no longer be working for the city of Goldsboro.

"We never planned to stay put in Goldsboro," she said. "We moved with the Air Force and my husband started here in March of 2012 and his time is up in March of 2015, so I'll be moving back ahead of him."

Ms. Gernaat will be moving back to her hometown of Kalamazoo, Mich., and will be replaced by Erin Acree beginning Nov. 3.

Ms. Acree is currently the director of marketing and outreach for construction management at Eastern Carolina University.

"I've loved my position here and I never thought I would be in a downtown development position," Mrs. Gernaat said. "But Julie believed in me and hired me and it's been great."

Ms. Gernaat began her employment with DGDC in March 2012, and will begin work as the development and planning coordinator for downtown Kalamazoo in January 2015.

She will be in Goldsboro until December 2014.
