Get ready for an afternoon of jazz and much more during the annual Jazz on George event Oct. 25.
It will be held in the 100 block of North George Street from 1 to 6 p.m.
Featured performers will be the Starlight Dance Band, Eric Xavier Band and Adia Ledbetter.
There will be various vendors with food and beverages for sale. And there will be several activities for the children, like bubbles, hula hoops and sidewalk chalk. There will be face painting from 2 to 5 p.m. Also, there will be pumpkin painting, which the Arts Council will be overseeing.
At 2:30 p.m., a group of dancers will perform African dances.
Jazz on George is free. Those attending should take lawn chars and blankets.
It's sponsored by the Downtown Goldsboro Development Corp., and the Arts Council of Wayne County provides a grant for the jazz artists.
"The DGDC board about nine years ago saw a need for an outdoor music event that was different from the Center Street Jam," said Arts Council director Sarah Merritt. "It's always a beautiful day. People can come down and have some fun. And it ends at 6 p.m., so afterward, people can check out our wonderful downtown restaurants and shops."
