If current plans come to fruition, Wayne County will be getting its air show back.
4th Fighter Wing Commander Col. Mark Slocum said Friday that Seymour Johnson Air Force Base personnel and members of the local Military Affairs Committee are moving forward with plans for a potential Wings Over Wayne 2015.
The event, Slocum said, would be held in April or May -- unless an unforeseen event, like the budget crisis that prompted the cancellation of the last local air show, develops.
Former 4th Commander Col. Jeannie Leavitt called off the 2013 Wings Over Wayne after budget woes saw the Air Force cut everything from flying hours to members of the branch.
The decision delivered a blow to the Goldsboro and Wayne economies, as the show typically generates millions in revenue for local coffers.
No other details about the 2015 event -- including information regarding a potential headliner -- were disclosed.
