Man, 69, fights off would-be attacker

A 69-year-old Goldsboro man defended himself and his home when a younger man forced his way in and attacked him at 5:15 this morning.
According to a Goldsboro police report, Leslie Bill Hines, of the 900 block of Newsome Street, was home when a young black man, about 25 years old, kicked in his rear door.
The intruder began to assault Hines by punching him.
Hines was able to beat back the intruder and force him out of the residence. The man then fled in an unknown direction.
The suspect is described as 6 feet tall, weighing 175 pounds, with a medium build wearing jeans and a white shirt with stripes.
No injuries were listed on the report.
The damage to the door and metal lock caused when the attacker kicked in the door is estimated on the report at $125.
Police are investigating the matter as a breaking and entering with intent to terrorize.
