Braddock Bernard Gross III

New details about the kidnapping and shooting of a 24-year-old Albertson man during the early morning hours on Aug. 24 have been re-leased along with the identity of one of the suspects in the case.

Goldsboro police are searching for Braddock Bernard Gross III, 22, wanted on charges of attempted first-degree murder and first-degree kidnapping, as well as absconding from probation and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

According to a press release, Gross was among several men who forced Justin Edward Kornegay into his own vehicle at gunpoint at about 2 a.m. Sunday.

The men forced Kornegay to drive around Wayne County for two hours, stopping at several locations including a Mount Olive ATM. Kornegay was forced to withdraw money, which the men in turn stole from him.

The men beat and pistol whipped Kornegay multiple times, the report said.

The men then forced Kornegay, still driving, to stop at 316 Fedelon Trail where they got out of the car, but not before shooting Kornegay in the leg.

Kornegay was driven to Wayne Memorial Hospital by a private citizen, and hospital staff then called police.

Kornegay was then transported to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville for further treatment.

Investigators identified Gross throughout the course of their investigation and have issued a warrant for his arrest.

Addition arrests are expected as the investigation progresses.

Anyone with information regarding Gross or the shooting is asked to contact the Goldsboro Police Department at 919-580-4217.

Anonymous tips may be phoned in or sent by text to Crime Stoppers at 919-735-2255 or 919-222-4230, respectively. Information given to crime stoppers leading to a felony arrest may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
