PIKEVILLE -- The Pikeville Town Board agreed Tuesday night to begin the process of seeking a new town administrator.

The Town Board held a closed session lasting just over an hour in which personnel matters were discussed.

After the closed meeting ended, the board approved a motion to advertise for resumes for a new town administrator. Resumes for the job will be accepted until Oct. 1.

The board also agreed to officially accept the resignation of Blake Proctor, who announced earlier this month that he was quitting.

The severance package detailed in the letter includes payment for accrued vacation and compensatory time, which amount to 110 hours of vacation and 53 of compensatory time.

Proctor's resignation is effective Aug. 28. However, he is not expected to return to work, Mayor Glenn Hartman said.

Proctor cited his ailing mother as the reason for his decision to resign.

Sources have indicated that there was a conflict between Proctor and Police Chief Joe Sadler shortly before Proctor's resignation.

Proctor denied any conflict before he announced his resignation.
