The Wayne Community College unit of the Association Educational Office Professionals, or AEOP, recognized its administrator and professional of the year at its annual administrators luncheon recently.
WCC President Dr. Kay Albertson was named this year's Administrator of the Year and Theresa White-Wallace was named the Educational Office Professional of the Year.
Wendy Potter, awards chair for the event, called Dr. Albertson "a dynamic hands-on administrator who is strongly committed to the mission of Wayne Community College."
The president was praised for promoting the professional development and leadership skills of employees, while serving herself in leadership positions with the N.C. Community College System. She has been president at the college since 2007 and previously had served in various administrative capacities since being hired as a division head in 2000.
She had previously worked at the college as an instructor in the early 1980s. Mrs. White-Wallace, administrative assistant for the arts and sciences division, has been employed at the college for 15 years.
She has served as treasurer, president and committee chair for the AEOP, and will serve as its president next year.
