FREMONT -- A Fremont man is charged with assault with a deadly weapon after he allegedly shot his stepfather three times during a domestic dispute Monday.

Nacarsa Ronyell Ford, 56, 306 S. Pender St., is charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

He is currently being held in the Wayne County Jail under a $50,000 secured bond.

Fremont police and Wayne County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the Pender Street residence just before 2 a.m. Monday to find Nathaniel Hobbs, 56, shot in both the right and left thigh and once in the hip.

Hobbs was taken by ambulance to Wayne Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released.

Fremont Police Chief Paul Moates said deputies located Ford several blocks from the residence he shares with his mother and Hobbs, where police say the shooting took place.

Ford was taken into custody without incident and charged. He is due to appear in Wayne County District Court on June 11.
