Servers Alexis Golden, 21, and Taylor Smith, 18, and hostess Jessie Watson, 16, fold Texas Roadhouse shirts Thursday. The restaurant is scheduled to have its grand opening on June 30.

After six months, work is nearing completion on the Texas Roadhouse going into the former Ryan's Family Steak House location on Berkeley Boulevard.

The restaurant is set to open June 30.

Work began in January with a complete interior demolition and exterior overhaul to add new roofing and a new entrance.

With only the odds and ends left to complete, much of the work has turned over to the executive team for the location, general contractor Dean Smith said.

Smith will stay around until the restaurant opens.

Rob Daniels, market partner running the Goldsboro location, said that he is excited for both himself and for the people of Goldsboro as opening day approaches.

Daniels moved with his executive team from his last restaurant in Gastonia to open a new restaurant here.

"We wanted to come here and be successful," he said. "I came up from a line cook, most of my team were hostesses or bus boys when they started."

Daniels said Texas Roadhouse invests in its employees first, ensuring they are happy, which in turn keeps the customers happy.

Daniels said it is that focus on providing great food at unbeatable prices and maintaining a happy, effective staff that gives Texas Roadhouse its edge.

"We have a guy who cuts steaks all day long," he said. "Eight hours a day in here cutting steaks. That is our bread and butter. We do not marinate steaks. We sear the seasoning on and then move it to the grill where it is cooked to perfection."

Daniels said that the grills and bakery are visible to the customers because at Texas Roadhouse they are passionate and confident about their product and want people to see it.

"We have a baker making rolls every 45 minutes," Daniels said. "You don't get that everywhere."

Texas Roadhouse maintains separate coolers for meats and produce as well as having four different prep areas to accommodate gluten intolerance and other food allergies.

"We do everything we can to accommodate someone with allergies," Daniels said. "If you have an allergy, tell us and one of my executive team will come out and speak to you and we will do everything we can to accommodate. I don't turn people away."

One exception is peanut allergies -- the restaurant has free peanuts on every table.

The location is set to open June 30 and will be open from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday, from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday and from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday.
