Five graduating seniors from Wayne County Public Schools have been chosen to receive Emmet and Mary Robinson Trust Fund scholarships.
The trust fund was set up by the couple for students in the district who intend to further their education in the fields of medicine, nursing, agriculture or in the ministry of the Presbyterian and Episcopal churches.
The aid is renewable each year based on academic standing and continuation in one of those fields of study.
This year's recipients are from two area high schools:
* From Eastern Wayne High School: Natalie Capps received a $4,000 award to attend East Carolina University and study nursing; Hannah Gaines received a $2,000 scholarship to study nursing at ECU; and Madallia Tann received a $2,000 award to study nursing at Wayne Community College.
* From Spring Creek High School: Sarah Casey and Alisha Gordon each received scholarships for $3,500 to study at Campbell University. Miss Casey plans to study to be a physician's assistant and Miss Gordon is pursuing a degree in pharmacy.
