A Dudley man who offered to give a woman a ride instead found himself the victim of a kidnapping and armed robbery Thursday, according to a Goldsboro police report.
Harry Thomas Oates, 46, of 372 Emmaus Church Road, told police investigators that he drove to the 500 block of Chestnut Street to give a woman named "MeMe" a ride.
The woman and an unidentified man got in the car, but she then said had to go back into her house to get her phone, according to the report.
When she did, two other men, armed with a shotgun and a 9-mm pistol, got into the car and told Oates to drive.
Oates drove around the block and was quickly robbed of his eagle-themed necklace, ring and charm, a wallet containing cash and cards, and a Galaxy cell phone with case.
The combined value of the items taken amounted to more than $2,200.
There was no description of the thieves available.
