SEVEN SPRINGS -- A Wayne County Public Schools bus driver was charged with failure to yield after a two-vehicle accident early this morning in the area of the intersection of N.C. 55 and Drummersville Road near Seven Springs.
Ken Derksen, public information officer with the school district, confirmed that bus driver Shannon Fraick was cited after reportedly pulling out into traffic and being struck by a pickup truck.
Fourteen Spring Creek Elementary School students were on the bus at the time of the accident, Derksen said.
The driver of the other vehicle and a passenger were transported to Wayne Memorial Hospital for minor injuries, according to the state trooper who responded to the accident, Derksen said.
Ms. Fraick also received minor injuries.
Calls to the Highway Patrol were not returned by press time.
It was not known if rain played a part in the accident. Rain had started falling early this morning.
