Fourth-grade students participated in the project last week as part of a study on N.C. symbolic sculptures. Art teacher Amy Kennedy received a $5,000 grant from the N.C. Arts Council, her third grant in three years. Ms. Holsenbeck is working with the students on creating plastic bottle dogwood flowers and cardboard cardinals, which will be added to a garden at the school.
