Pridgen files to keep seat on school board

All four incumbents up for re-election to the Wayne County Board of Education have filed.

District 6 representative Rick Pridgen of Goldsboro on Wednesday became the latest to seek re-election.

As of Thursday morning, Pridgen and District 5 representative Arnold Flowers of Seven Springs are unopposed in the May 6 primary.

Primaries have been assured in the other two school board districts.

District 4 representative John Grantham of the Grantham community is being challenged by Jennifer Smith Strickland of Goldsboro.

In District 1, incumbent Chris West of Pikeville is challenged by Phillip J. Sexton of Goldsboro.

The school board primary is nonpartisan.

The filing period ends Friday, Feb. 28 at noon.
