Local girl is clogging champion

Brooke Mackenzie Hinson, 9, of Mount Olive recently competed in the America's Clogging Hall of Fame competition, "The Oak City Invitational" in Louisburg. She placed third in contemporary clogging solos in the 8-9 age category. He also took first place in choreographed solos with her routine "Mr. Policeman." She went on to capture the overall high scoring solo for choreographed solos ages 18 and under. In November, she took a second place in contemporary solos at the "Tiger Town Invitational" competition in Clemson.

She is the daughter of Michael and Paige Hinson of Mount Olive, the granddaughter of Larry and Lyndia Hinson of Goldsboro and Graylon and Carolyn Dixon of Four Oaks. She is the great-granddaughter of Cassie Hinson of Goldsboro and the Rev. Graham Dixon of Smithfield.
