Highway to close for processional

U.S. 117 North from Smith Chapel Road, Mount Olive to Genoa Road, Dudley will be closed starting at 2:15 p.m. Friday for Sheriff Carey Winders' funeral procession.
The highway will be closed until the graveside service at Wayne Memorial Park has ended.
The state Department of Transportation will provide signs for motorists to detour through Mount Olive to U.S. 117 Alt. North. Motorists will then be directed to exit U.S. 117 Alt. North at Outlaw Road and directed to Genoa Road to return to U.S. 117 North.
Overflow and public parking for the graveside service will be at the Wayne Regional Agricultural Fairgrounds. There will be walking access between the fairgrounds and the cemetery.
The graveside service will be closed to the media. The media will be required to stage across from the cemetery at Brogden United Methodist Church, which is located at 2918 U.S. 117, Dudley.
