Wayne County government offices were to close at 1 p.m. Tuesday and remain closed through Wednesday because of the inclement weather.
Updates regarding potential opening delays for Thursday will be posted on the county's website at www.waynegov.com and county Facebook page. People may also call the county weather hotline at 919-731-1150 for more information.
The Wayne County Public Schools system was closed Tuesday for students, as was Wayne Community College. Plans for Wednesday for both institutions have not been announced, but will be posted on their websites, www.waynecountypublic schools.org and www.waynecc.edu.
All city of Goldsboro offices will be closed Wednesday due to the incoming snowfall, but no decision has been made about Tuesday or Thursday closings.
Mount Olive town offices are open, but with a skeleton crew.
Any updates will be posted on www.goldsboronc.gov and on the city Facebook page.
Law enforcement officers also are getting prepared.
The Highway Patrol said today they will have four or five extra troopers on roads to handle the expected higher volume of calls.
In Goldsboro, Maj. Mike West said they are monitoring forecasts, but for now, are operating patrols as normal. However, he said, should conditions worsen to the point safety becomes an issue, officers will work on a "winter weather plan," West said.
"We will pull officers from the road in that case and they will only be dispatched to answer calls," he said.
