Eight contestants to compete for Miss Spring Creek

The seventh Miss Spring Creek Scholarship Pageant will be held at Byrd Assembly Hall in Mount Olive on Saturday night, Feb. 1, at 6 p.m.
Eight contestants are vying for the title of Miss Spring Creek 2014.
Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Advance tickets may be purchased from any contestant or Mrs. Kellie Davis at Spring Creek High School.
Contestants are:
*Khadijna Atkins, senior, the 17-year-old daughter of Nathaline and Al Core, performing a dance solo
*Madisen Barwick, senior, the 17-year-old daughter of Bennie and Varerlie Barwick, performing a dance solo
*Madelyn Coates, junior, the 16-year0old daughter of Doug and Penny Coates, performing a vocal solo
*Martha Morton, senior, the 17-year-old daughter of John and Nora Morton, performing a vocal solo
*Sulema Perez-Morales, junior, the 17-year-old daughter of Aurora Morales and Hector Perez, performing a dance solo
*Ofelia Diaz Soto, junior, the 17-year-old daughter of Otilia Soto Hernandez, performing a dance solo
*Kathryn Harrell, senior, the 17-year-old daughter of Suzanne and Richard Harrell, performing a vocal solo
*Anna Newsome, senior, the 17-year-old daughter of Susan and Michael Newsome, performing a dance solo.
Miss Spring Creek 2013, Morgan Howell, will crown her successor. Spring Creek will award a total of over $3,000 in cash scholarships, payable to the college attended, to the top three contestants . Miss Spring Creek 2014 will also receive a $2,500 in-kind scholarship to the University of Mount Olive, $2,000 to the 1st runner up, and $1,500 to the 2nd runner up.
