Man shot, killed in Lenoir County

A Lenoir County man is dead and another in jail after a shooting near Seven Springs Monday at 855 Smith Graddy Road.
Randall Thomas Lewis, 20, was killed by a gunshot wound to the head just after 1 p.m.
According to reports, Lewis and another man, Michael Bradley Rouse, 19, were playing around with a semi-automatic handgun.
Rouse, believing the safety was engaged, fired the weapon at Lewis.
A single bullet discharged from the weapon, striking Lewis and killing him.
However, when Lenoir County deputies arrived on scene they also found drugs at the home.
Rouse is charged with involuntary manslaughter, possession of marijuana, maintaining a dwelling for the use or sale of a controlled substances, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a firearm by felon.
Rouse, held under an $85,300 secured bond in the Lenoir county Detention Center, is scheduled for a first appearance in Lenoir County Court Friday.
