Worker confronts alleged shoplifter

An employee at the Kmart located at 201 N. Berkeley Blvd. got more than she bargained for when confronting a suspected shoplifter Wednesday.
According to a report filed with the Goldsboro Police Department, Kierra Rowe, 20, while working in the store, saw an unknown black female exit the store and set off the alarm.
Ms. Rowe went out to confront the woman and a verbal altercation ensued.
As the argument escalated, the unknown woman pulled a can of what is believed to have been pepper spray and sprayed the 20-year-old store clerk.
The woman then made her escape in a four-door passenger car, the tag number of which was recorded.
The woman was described as 5 feet, 6 inches tall, 180 pounds, with medium black hair.
Nothing was reported stolen from the store. The investigation is ongoing.
