Miss Goldsboro Pageant to be held Saturday at Paramount

Miss Goldsboro 2014 will be crowned Saturday night at the Paramount Theatre, along with the area's Outstanding Teen representative.
Six contestants are vying for the title this year, while seven teens will be competing in the event, which starts at 7 p.m.
Relinquishing their crowns are Beth Stovall, Miss Goldsboro 2013, and Goldsboro Outstanding Teen Emma Carter.
Miss Stovall finished in the top 10 at the Miss North Carolina Pageant, along with receiving a talent preliminary award. Miss Carter also earned a preliminary talent award in the state contest and finished as fourth runner-up.
The new Miss Goldsboro will represent the community throughout the year and participate in local events as well as the state pageant in June 2014.
The Miss America preliminary competition is open to young ladies who reside or work in Wayne, Duplin, Lenoir, Greene, Wilson, Nash, Edgecombe, Wake, Pitt, Johnston and Sampson counties. Outstanding Teens are eligible to compete in any county across the state. Each contestant also has a Carolina Princess whom they mentor during the pageant.
Miss Stovall had two Carolina Princesses this past year, Catherine Eubanks and Faron Gurley. Carolina Princess for Miss Carter was Hayden Pearson.
The following are contestants for Miss Goldsboro.
*Sarah Ashley, 21, is from Greenville and attending Pitt Community College. She will perform a contemporary dance to "Crystalize."
*Mary Beth Cameron, a 20-year-old sophomore at Meredith College, lives in Rocky Mount. She will sing in the competition.
*Jessica Carter, from Four Oaks, is a 20-year-old student at UNC-Chapel Hill. Her talent will be a vocal performance.
*Casey Croom, 20, is a junior at UNC-Wilmington and a resident of Pikeville. She will perform a ballet en pointe for her talent.
*Emily Tucker, 22, is a graduate of East Carolina University with a bachelor of music degree. A resident of Goldsboro, she will perform an operatic vocal for her talent.
*Jordan Alexis Ward, a 17-year-old senior at North Duplin High School, lives in Kenansville. Her talent will be a contemporary dance to "Wonderwall."
The seven Outstanding Teen contestants are:
*Brianna Bass, a 14-year-old freshman at Southern Wayne High School will tap dance.
*Rachel Brittain is a 16-year-old junior at Cape Fear High School. Her talent is playing the piano.
*Regan Chavez, a 16-year-old junior at Hobbton High School, will be singing.
*Carolina Gainey, who will be singing, is a 16-year-old junior at Ravenscroft High School.
*Shae Malham, a 13-year-old eighth-grader at Princeton Middle School, will perform Acro, a combination of acrobatics and gymnastics.
*Stephanie "Sami" McDaniel, a 16-year-old junior at Triton High School, will play the piano.
*Sarah Richards, a 16-year-old junior at Southern Wayne High School, will clog dance.
Carolina Princesses this year are Abby Hackett, Ashley Boyd, Charlotte Boyd,
Chloe Joyner, Samantha Eubanks, Courtney Williams, Maggie Brown, Jillian Pierce, Kylie Bennett, Briana Smith, Lily Smith, Addison Albright, Jenna Hales and Miranda Hinnant.
