The budget adopted earlier this year by Wayne County commissioners reduced direct county funding for nonprofit organizations by $674,051.30.

The total was reduced from $1,532,942.3 to $858,891, thanks mostly to eliminating $640,000 for Eastpointe.

The 2013-14 total includes two donations not present in the 2012-13 budget. They are $1,000 for the Purple Heart Association and $20,934 in operating expenses for GATEWAY.

Missing from the 2013-14 total is $4,900 for the Wayne County Law Enforcement Association, which was included in 2012-13.
