The Wayne County Sheriff's Aggressive Crime Enforcement Team seized 60 pounds of marijuana and arrested one suspect during a traffic stop on U.S. 117 South, near Old Mount Olive Highway on Thursday.
James Jonel Leggett, 37, 612 Brogden St., was charged with second-level trafficking in marijuana and maintaining a vehicle for the purposes of a controlled substance after he was pulled over for a "vehicle regulatory violation," according to a press release from the Sheriff's Office.
Leggett is in the Wayne County Jail under a $200,000 secured bond after investigators, aided by a K-9 unit, found him in possession of marijuana with a potential street value of $144,000.
