The Optimist Club of Goldsboro collects used computers and peripheral equipment on the second Saturday of each month for its Optimist Computers4Kids program.
The next collection day will be this Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the club's office located at 205 East Walnut Street.
People should call 919-288-2567 to schedule a time or location that would be more convenient for them to drop off used computers.
The club refurbishes and distributes the computers on the first Saturday of each month to pre-approved, low-income families with children in grades 6 through 12 of the Wayne County Public Schools.
The club currently has 49 refurbished computers in stock.
To be approved for one of these low-priced, refurbished computers, families should contact the social worker at their child's school to obtain an application.
Applications can also be obtained by calling 919-288-2567 or by visiting the club's website at goldsborooptimist.org.
Club members said there is still plenty of time remaining for qualified families to be approved for the next distribution day that will be held Saturday, Oct. 5 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the club's office.
